Highlights: On the day the Catholic world celebrates Christmas, war is raging in the Holy Land. Hamas is part of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose goal is universal. The Palestinian Authority is also trying to conquer the Christian heritage. The fate of the West depends on our unequivocal victory over Hamas, writes Shlomo Ben-Ghiat, a former Israeli minister of state for defense and foreign policy. The only Christian community that is safe and prosperous is in the Jewish state, he says, adding that Israel is the front post in this war.

According to the PA, Jesus was "the first Palestinian martyr," and Mary his mother is an inspiration for "the Palestinian prisoners, the female fighters." In other words, the terrorists follow the path of Jesus and Mary

1. On the day the Catholic world celebrates Christmas, war is raging in the Holy Land against an enemy that threatens the Jewish people and all Western Christian civilization. Hamas is part of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose goal is universal. Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the movement's supreme religious authority, ruled: "Constantinople was conquered in 1453 [by the Ottomans]; And now there remains the conquest of the other city of Rome... This means that Islam will return to Europe once again as conqueror and victor after being expelled from it twice." Constantinople was the capital of the Eastern Christian Empire for about a thousand years, until it was conquered and became Istanbul. The church "Hagia Sophia" became a mosque. Rome is the capital of Roman Catholicism and also the symbolic capital of Western civilization. Therefore, its conquest is a physical and spiritual goal for radical Islam. Israel is the front post in this war.

2. There is no fundamental difference between Hamas and Fatah. The Palestinian Authority is also trying to conquer the Christian heritage. They have no long history, so they are working to erase Jewish memory from the land of the Bible. Article 20 of the Fatah Charter explicitly states: "The claims of the historical or spiritual connection of the Jew to Palestine are inconsistent with the truth of history." If Jews don't have roots in the land, neither do Christians. So what do we do with Jesus? The PA promotes the idea that Jesus was "the first Palestinian martyr." Mary, the mother of Jesus, in case you were wondering, "is from the people of Palestine" and an inspiration to the "Palestinian prisoners, warriors." In other words, according to the PA, the terrorists, including Hamas, follow in the footsteps of Jesus and Mary.

3. At Christmas, the eyes of the world are on the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. The city was once overwhelmingly Christian. Today, Christians make up only about 15%. They fled from the terror of the PA just as they fled from the terror of Hamas (there are about 1,000 Christians left in Gaza). Throughout the Middle East, the Christian population is declining by tens of percent. Christians are persecuted and under constant pressure to convert. They became similar to Jews in medieval Europe. It is worth taking a peek at our northern neighbor, where war is raging on us. Lebanon was supposed to be the only Christian country in the Middle East and is now held captive by a terrorist organization operated from Tehran. The only Christian community that is safe and prosperous is in the Jewish state. Many of her sons and daughters serve in the IDF and defend the Holy Land.

4. Jesus was a Jewish preacher. He kept Torah and commandments and ascended the cross as a Jew. He was active in Galilee and Judea and spoke Hebrew and Aramaic. The name "Palestine" was given to this land about 100 years after his crucifixion by Emperor Hadrian following the Bar Kokhba revolt, which failed in 135 AD. Hadrian wanted to make the Jews forget their land and recruited the Philistines, the biblical sea nations who had disappeared hundreds of years earlier.

The city was once overwhelmingly Christian. Today, Christians make up only about 15%. They fled from the terror of the PA just as they fled from the terror of Hamas (there are about 1,000 Christians left in Gaza)

For about two thousand years, the Jews were persecuted and their communities destroyed. In fact, they were crucified as a kind of post-traumatic "repetition" of the crucifixion "crime" for which they were not guilty. In this respect, with the establishment of the State of Israel, Jesus came down from the cross, put on a prayer shawl and returned home to Zion, only this time holding a weapon not to be crucified again. In the current war, the Christian world is with the Jews in one boat. The fate of the West depends on our unequivocal victory over Hamas.
