Finding a parking space is difficult, especially in big cities like Vienna. A motorist has now received an invoice that he cannot comprehend.

Vienna – A supposedly free parking lot is causing quite a stir in Austria. The XXL restaurant Leopoldauer Alm and the furniture store Kika across the street are in conflict. In the middle of it all: a Viennese who is supposed to pay a large sum of money.

"This is a mess": Restaurant customer angry – He should pay 255 euros for a parking space

1120 euros is a hefty sum for a meal with colleagues. However, the Viennese had not expected an additional bill. This landed in his mailbox some time later and had very little to do with the food. Specifically, it was about the parking lot of the Kika opposite, where he had parked his car. For this, he should now pay 250 euros, as heute.at reported.

"The Leopoldauer Alm advertises the free parking spaces on the Kika square opposite. And now the Kika wants to sue me? It's a mess," he told the newspaper. A glance at the XXL restaurant's website confirms what the customer is saying. There, the company gives its customers the hint: "Free parking vis a vis KIKA".

"Damaging to business": Chef of XXL restaurant also upset

The chef of the restaurant now also contacted a lawyer. Because, he explained, according to the paper, there is a contract for the use of the parking lots. And we have been doing this for 15 years. His staff had received similar demands. He described the incidents as "conduct damaging to business", while the furniture store said that there had been problems on site.

It seems to be a dispute that is not so easy to settle. Because, as Kika accuses the Alm, it has advertised with 300 parking spaces for visitors, which means that the customers of the furniture store would hardly be able to find parking spaces.

Meanwhile, a woman had to pay almost 55,000 euros for a visit to a restaurant, was supposed to pay 55,000 euros. A photo on a social media platform backfired quite a bit. (mbr)
