This is the same meeting on October 11, the day of the conversation between the Prime Minister and President Joe Biden.
With the mediation of several parties – including those who joined the government that day, Ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot – the defense minister eventually participated. The rift between Netanyahu and Galant was so great that the prime minister initially did not want him to participate until he was convinced. The meeting took place on the day of the conversation between Prime Minister Netanyahu and US President Joe Biden, during which, according to an earlier report in the Wall Street Journal, the president persuaded Netanyahu not to attack Hezbollah in a proactive move, as was ultimately decided.
However, an Israeli source confirmed Netanyahu's version and claimed that the conversation took place after the decision was made not to attack in the north.
The Prime Minister's Office said earlier about the Wall Street Journal report: "The publication is not true. Already on the first day of the war, Prime Minister Netanyahu decided that Israel would act first to achieve a decisive victory in the south, while deterring firmly in the north. This policy was adopted by the cabinet."
