The Finance Committee discussed on Monday the provision of compensation to businesses following the war, and during the discussion there were claims directed at the Ministry of Finance regarding the difficulty of reservists in exercising their rights. Finance Committee Chairman Moshe Gafni called reserve soldier Lior Moshayev last night, who expressed his great frustration and spoke about the difficult economic situation he found himself in following the war and his enlistment in the reserves, and how he was left without compensation.

Gafni turned to the soldier and told him: "I want to see that there is a solution, I want to know that the problem is solved, today is a great celebration, but in a week suddenly you will disappear with this thing. I want to know that this will be resolved." Lior replied: "I have a lot of friends, we're inside without phones, we don't know what outline, we're not closed on documents, on a day or two at home you have to organize all these documents," and Gafni replied: "We'll be in touch with you, I'll bring them [the finance people] to the committee and I want to see that it's on the agenda."
During the stormy discussion that ensued in the Finance Committee, Lior said: "The family has a supermarket and guest houses. My brother and I were drafted on October 7. My brother is getting missiles on his head in the north, I fought for a few days ago in Sejaiya and I'm probably coming back there. We collapsed. We really didn't think twice. We left on the first day, families and kids and the business. We simply abandoned it. We were called to the flag and ran, and now the business has collapsed."

He added: "There was no one to run the business, we took junior workers who tried to rob us, raised our rent before the fighting. It's a catastrophe. I don't know how I'm going to end my day. I'm afraid to transfer credit to the girl's Similac, the fridge is empty. I didn't get anything, a shekel. I've reached out to everyone, I've sent messages, I'm risking my life every day when bullets go over my head. I'm protecting you, is there anyone else whose fridge is empty? Anyone else who didn't get a salary? Did any of you not receive a salary?"
Following Moshayev's remarks, opposition members attacked the government, saying it was abandoning business owners. Committee Chairman MK Moshe Gafni said, "What is being said here points to what is happening throughout the system" and asked to examine the case. "Why didn't the guy get the money, why does the business have to collapse?"

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also spoke at length with Moshayev at the end of the discussion and asked to hear more about the case and try to help.
