Lieutenant Yaron Eliezer Chitiz, 23, from Ra'anana, a staff sergeant in Givati's Shaked Battalion, fell in battle in the Daraj Tufah neighborhood in the northern Gaza Strip.
His partner Dana Gansberg eulogized him: "My Yaron, my life, my half, my beloved, my whole world, I chose the pictures so I could upload to your birthday, which was supposed to be next week - but God apparently had other plans.
"Where are you? Where will we have other experiences together? I refuse to believe that you won't be here with me! All our plans for the future – wedding, family, travel."
Ra'anana Mayor Haim Broida eulogized him: "Raanana hurts and mourns his fall last night in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Chitz is a graduate of Yavne School and Bnei Akiva Yeshiva in the city."
His brother Daniel wrote in a Facebook post: "The child is gone."
Yaron was the youngest member of a family that immigrated from South Africa. He is survived by his parents and four siblings. His funeral is expected tomorrow.
