A fight broke out on Wednesday between students at the prestigious Ironi 14th high school in Tel Aviv. The reason was a quarrel between students during a demonstration against statements made by school principal Yael Ayalon, who was invited to clarify the issue.

In recent weeks, Yael Ayalon, municipal director, has spoken out on political issues and in the context of the fighting in Gaza on her private Facebook page. This caused outrage among students and parents, and she was summoned for an inquiry by the municipality.

This morning, the students held a demonstration following the principal's statements. During the demonstration, a fight broke out between the students. Probably among those who support her words and those who do not. The principal of the high school had to separate the students who were fighting between them. A video of the brawl circulated online and drew reactions.

The Ministry of Education said: "The ministry condemns and will act against all cases of violence with great severity. With regard to the Secretariat, the Ministry views with severity any expressions of incitement and encouragement of terrorism on the part of teaching staff. All cases are handled accordingly and are subject to examination and discussion within the framework of the Ministry's incitement committee. The Secretariat is employed by the Tel Aviv Municipality and her case is in the process of being clarified by the municipality. The students' anger is understandable, but the boundaries of discourse, respectful behavior must be maintained and any violent activity of any kind must be completely avoided."
