Lovers of the chocolate-covered frozen raspberry bar, which has become a hysterical trend in recent months, reported a type of shellfish or worm discovered inside after the bite • Pranoy importer in Israel: "This is less than a millionth of one percent of the quantity marketed so far" • Blogger Ofek Gindi: "I saw the antennae and it really started moving"

Consumers of the Pranoy candy, which has become a hysterical hit in recent months and a viral trend on social media, reported that after biting into the chocolate-covered product, insects that look like worms or small mollusks were discovered inside. Some of these cases were documented on video and posted on social media over the past month.

Paranoi is a popular candy originating in Bariloche, South America. He arrived in Israel last June and as soon as he landed in Israel, the 2,000 units brought in were hijacked within a few hours.

One of the cases in which insects were discovered in the product was documented by blogger and makeup brand owner, Open Gindi, who has over 200,<> followers on TikTok. "I have no appetite for a week," Gindi wrote Tuesday in a post on her TikTok account. The video she uploaded showed a small shellfish in the raspberries contained in the candy.

Another video uploaded to TikTok two weeks ago by a user named Hili Amir shows a similar insect inside the paranoia she was holding in her hand. Amir, who appeared to feel the effect of vomiting in the video, said: "The truth behind the paranoi" and added: "I didn't believe this would happen to me in my life, yuck." On the video, she also wrote: "Stop buying."

It was brought to our attention that in the past month consumers of the snack have reported several similar cases. At the same time, it should be noted that so far over 15 million units of paranoi have been consumed in Israel.

"It's shocking," Ofek Gindi told us in a conversation we had with her today (Wednesday). "I bought a few packages of paranoid at the Savyon supermarket because I eat it all the time, but because of what I saw on TikTok I always look and check to see that there are no insects in it," she said. She added that she had encountered five separate such incidents posted on TikTok in the past month. "I bought a few packages because we eat it a lot at home," she added. "And then I just ate one, I was on the phone and all of a sudden I say to my mom: 'Wait a minute, I see something weird here.' It was a mini snail, a mini worm. I was still hoping it might be a piece of something else, so I waited for the paranoia to thaw and then when it thawed, I saw the antennae and it really started moving."

Will you eat pranoe again?

"It's shocking. It's disgusting. I don't eat it anymore and I don't understand how a company that sells and makes millions on it doesn't test raspberries, even if you need a mirroring machine for it. They can't sell me insects because I haven't confirmed that I'm interested in eating it."

The response of the importer of Pranoy in Israel: "All Pranoy products are made from raspberries grown under the best conditions and the strictest standards. To date, over 15 million units have been consumed in Israel and paranoia has become one of the most popular and beloved products. Unfortunately, we learned of a few isolated cases of raspberry insects. Although this is less than one million percent (0.000001%*) of the quantity marketed to date, following the specific cases,
we worked with the manufacturer to replace the raspberry supplier and add the most advanced quality control technology in the field in order to continue providing the Israeli audience with the perfect bite."
