Major Dvir David Fima, 32, from Kfar Yona, deputy commander of Battalion 198 of the Bnei Or Brigade (460), fell yesterday in battle in the central Gaza Strip.
He is survived by his wife and baby. Just last week, he met his father for the first time after more than 50 days of fighting. Eliran, his cousin, eulogized him: "The Lord gave the Lord a lesson, my dear cousin. Hero of Israel. Pride of the family. Salt of the earth. Thank you for what you have done for everyone. You are a hero. Salute you our King. God will avenge your blood."
David Tlaib, a family friend: "Dvir Fima is a fighter and hero of Israel. I got to know you. An energetic, smiling person loves to talk and laugh. A smile that never leaves your face. That's how I'll remember you. The highest quality and best for the people of Israel. It hurts my heart."

The Kfar Yona municipality issued a statement announcing his fall: "Another difficult morning for Kfar Yona and the people of Israel. We share in the heavy grief and immense pain of the family. May his memory be blessed and may his rest be Eden."
His parents live in Beit She'an, where his funeral will also be held today at 15:00 P.M. The Beit She'an Municipality issued a statement:
"The city of Beit She'an mourns and pains upon learning of the death of Major Dvir David Fima, son of Shimon Nissim and Daniella, who fell last night in battle in the Gaza Strip.
Dvir, 198th Battalion Sergeant in Formation 460, one of the city's best sons, is the third casualty and the sixth fatality of Beit She'an since the beginning of the war. We embrace the dear Pima family warmly at this difficult time and send them our heartfelt condolences."
