The Cyber Department of the State Attorney's Office notified the attorneys of nine doctors and three other suspects that they were being considered, subject to a hearing, for systematically fraudulently issuing thousands of licenses for medical use of cannabis in exchange for bribes and committing additional offenses.

It is suspected that a company called Promadis teamed up with nine doctors to fraudulently produce more than 6,000 licenses for medical use of cannabis for customers who contacted the company, creating the false pretense that the customers suffer from PTSD without even undergoing a medical examination or diagnosis confirming it.

Four of the doctors are expert psychiatrists who signed the false recommendations, while the other five doctors were authorized by the Ministry of Health to issue the licenses, and are suspected of pocketing millions of shekels in bribes.

The offenses attributed to the suspects are receiving something fraudulently under aggravated circumstances, fraud and breach of trust, taking bribes and giving bribes. Some of the suspects were also charged with money laundering, offenses under the Income Tax Ordinance, and obstruction of justice
