Ofira Asayag posted on her Instagram account on Sunday night a farewell post from 2023, which was one of the most difficult years the State of Israel has known since its establishment. Precisely at a time when the entire world celebrated with fireworks and jubilation of joy, she wanted to remind us of the pain and suffering that the many Israeli abductees still in captivity of the Hamas terror organization still face today.

"Hello 2023, welcome 2024," Asayag wrote at the beginning of her post dedicated to the transition to a new year. "There is no New Year's Eve, no celebrations, no parties, no cheeks and no dancing," she said of her decision not to rejoice.
"I'm waiting for our abductees who are suffering under conditions under the devil Hamas!" she said, referring to the dozens of civilians and soldiers still in Gaza, with a deal to return the hostages now seemingly far away. "It's not normal that the abductees are still in Gaza and the world is as usual. Where are our soldiers? Gaza is under fire!"

In conclusion, she sought to define the boundaries, as far as she was concerned, when it came to marking the New Year. "True, we need to restore routine, but don't go crazy. In proportions, and depending on the situation. So Fuck off 2023, and I ask 2024 to hug us because we've suffered enough. Thank you," she signed.
Recall that these days are especially challenging for Asayag, who is embarking on a new path after her joint program with Eyal Berkowitz, "Ofira and Berkowitz," in Keshet 12 was taken off the screen. "Since October 7, our whole lives have changed. The country has changed, and so have we," she said, referring to the news of the couple's televised separation from Berkowitz, who moved to Network 13.
