As part of the expansion of IDF forces to additional areas in the Gaza Strip, on Monday Division fighters located 99 weapons in a kindergarten and a booby-trapped building. Fighters from the 646th Brigade's combat team located large quantities of weapons in the area in a kindergarten.

In addition, during searches of the area, fighters from the 179th Brigade's combat team identified terrorist activity near a framed building. Based on intelligence that the building's surroundings were booby-trapped, and based on the operational understanding of the commanders in the field, it was decided to fire a shell at the building. As a result of the rocket fire, secondary explosions were created in the building, indicating that it was indeed booby-trapped and used by the Hamas terrorist organization for an operational purpose.

During the past two weeks, during which 99th Division fighters have been fighting in the central Gaza Strip, the teams have eliminated many terrorists, destroyed over 100 shafts, located Hamas weapons caches containing RPG missiles and ammunition, and directed dozens of airstrikes on terrorist targets near Gaza City. By their activity, the fighters establish their operational hold on the combat zone, thereby enabling the attack to be expanded to other places and preventing the enemy from returning to its positions.
