The Montessori children's home had to overcome some challenges. The Board of Directors has mastered all of them. Now there is a new management team and a new legal form for the facility at Giglberg.

Dachau – The Montessori children's home remains an integral part of Dachau's daycare landscape. The institution is starting its anniversary year in Dachau with a solid foundation. The conclusion is good after the first six months under the new legal form: The Montessori Children's Home Dachau, now a non-profit limited liability company, has been renovated in several respects and is once again on a stable foundation. This was explained by Managing Director Rainer Wess and the outgoing chairman of the association, Ulf Tausche, at the general meeting in the Ludwig-Thoma-Haus.

"The Montessori Children's House will continue to enrich the daycare landscape in Dachau with its special pedagogy in the future," said Wess. "In a positive mood" they are looking forward to the new year.

The past almost four years have presented the former Montessori Children's Home Dachau association with great challenges: In addition to the pandemic requirements, they struggled with the consequences of a planned insolvency due to demands for additional payment from the municipality (we have reported). Most recently, a major fire in the rooms of the old villa on Dachau's Giglberg required extensive renovation.

Good sales revenues

After the restart in the renovated rooms in autumn 2022, a partly new pedagogical team had to come together. Rainer Wess: "We have mastered everything and are financially secure thanks to good sales revenues, which were generated, for example, by the popular Montessori clothing market or the food truck of the children's home."

After ten years of dedicated leadership of the association, Ulf Tausche, the former chairman, felt that the time had come to hand over the baton. "The smiles of the children were the most valuable reward for my voluntary work," said Tausche in his acceptance speech. Hans Böck also retires after a few years. Both are now members of the newly established Advisory Board for the Elderly, along with Gabor Grailach.

With a newly elected, five-member board, the Montessori Children's Home Dachau is starting the year 2024. In other words, it is ideally positioned to celebrate its 30th anniversary next summer. The new board of directors of the GmbH consists of: Christian Schuster, Annika Hauß, Jasmin Rauch, Anna-Maria von Ilak and Florian Rothenfusser.
