Political assassination attempt in South Korea: South Korean Democratic Party leader opposition figure Lee Jae-myung was stabbed in the neck on Tuesday during a visit to the southern port city of Busan. Lee was attacked by an unidentified man while patrolling the airport.

According to the initial details, the attacker is a man in his 50s or 60s. He approached Lee and asked for an autograph, then suddenly leapt forward and attacked him. Lee's security guards quickly overpowered the attacker and he was arrested on the spot.

According to the videos of the attack that circulated, some on Twitter (X), the assailant was seen charging at Lee in the middle of a crowd of journalists and media outlets, using a sharp object aimed at his neck. Lee collapsed on the ground while the attacker was neutralized.
