New album for Aviatar Banai

Every Thursday since the massacre carried out by Hamas terrorists in the communities near the Gaza Strip and southern Israel on October 7, Evyatar Banai began sending his social media followers what he described as an "evening of playing and studying," during which he performed his songs and the songs of others.

This series of meetings brought to the world his new album ("Anchor in the Water"), which includes cover versions and some transitional tracks by Banai himself, and the result is nothing short of miraculous.

For the umpteenth time, this great musician proved how much talent there is in all his limbs, managing to perform other people's songs (including his late brother Meir's "Looking for the Direction") as if they had always been his own. Thanks to its touching simplicity, precise and sincere performances and the choice of favorite songs that can be interpreted as the current situation in Israel - this is much more than a typical cover album, but a shocking and chilling bomb of emotion.

A tribute album to the works of Yair Rosenblum

On the occasion of what was supposed to be the 80th birthday of one of the most important artists in Hebrew music, BPM College collaborated with the Rosenblum family and Aroma Music's "Iron Sheep" to create an album ("Yair"), selected eight teams from the college - and created new arrangements from Rosenblum's magnificent catalog of songs.

The arrangements are full of rap (for example, "Ma Avrach" performed by Afek Lamour, which gives it an aspect appropriate for today), autotune ("When I grow up" performed by Moran Ohva) and dance-house arrangements ("In a Red Dress" performed by Thelma Preminger), and the choice to take them in a more modern direction created a surprising and enjoyable album.

Open File: Transfer Club Murder

Six years after three transgender women were murdered in an underground club in Jerusalem by a man who was never caught, the sense of failure still haunts Dolev Mizrahi, the veteran and well-known investigative officer who handled the case. When new evidence is discovered and shakes up the entire investigation, Mizrahi is determined to prove himself - but the case is taken from him and handed over to a young investigator. Despite his ouster, he is willing to do anything to find the killer.

The play created by Matan Ben-Ami and Ram Guetta (who also directed) puts the audience in a psychological mind game, allowing them to take an active part in the investigation itself through a WhatsApp group that is updated in real time.

Lucia di Lammermoor

The renowned opera created by the Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti receives a spectacular new adaptation, conducted by Carlo Montanero and directed by Omer Ben Saadia, with the participation of an Israeli and international team of soloists, the Opera Orchestra - the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion and the Israeli Opera Choir.

The story of the opera follows Lucia, who secretly meets with Edgardo, whose families have a long-standing hatred. When her brother forges a letter stating that Edgardo is in love with another, he manages to convince Lucia to marry another - and from there the plot only gets more complicated.

Exhibitions

Hanging by the hairline

In order to raise public awareness and concern about the abductees who have been held captive by Hamas for the past three months, artist Dr. Shaked Halperin created an exhibition featuring portraits of the abductees, created using the technique of dipping thread in color. In the exhibition, visitors will be able to watch Halperin perform additional work before their eyes, and contribute their part to a large collaborative work using the same method. Free entrance with advance registration.

Still breathing

Through her illustrations and accompanying texts, artist and designer Mor Levy-Gewirtz copes with the stillbirth she underwent when she was eight months pregnant with her first child.

The exhibition will present illustrations by Levi-Gewirtz, which she created as a way to express her feelings and pain, some of which exist as therapeutic cards - those that touch on the soft stomach, fears and pain she experienced following the difficult loss.

Back Mind

The central image in Anat Betzer's new exhibition is a woman's head painted from behind, from the back of the neck - the lesser-known, dangerous side, the hidden place of human beings. The various hair arrangements in the paintings in the exhibition are as a veil, a veil or a scarf, which cover, conceal and illuminate a woman and her femininity.

Beneath the meticulous aesthetics, the series of paintings presented in the exhibition can be read as an echo of an ongoing struggle, reflecting the most fundamental dramatic conflicts of our time, so that behind the curtain of beauty - the "method" is undermined to terrible conceptual chaos.
