Kibbutz Nir Oz announced Friday morning that Tamir Adar, a resident of the kibbutz, was murdered in an infiltration by Hamas terrorists on October 7, and that his body was being held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. So far, Adar has been defined as abducted.

His grandmother, Yaffa Adar, was also kidnapped and released from captivity in the abductee deal. Tamir, 38, was survived by his wife and two children.

The kibbutz's announcement read: "Kibbutz Nir Oz announces with deep mourning the murder of Tamir Adar, a resident of the kibbutz, on Saturday, October 7. Tamir was 38 years old. He was born and raised on the kibbutz and lives there with his family - his wife Hadas, and his two children (7.3, 5), a farmer and educator by profession. Tamir was a family man, loving man and nature. An avid Maccabi Tel Aviv fan and always surrounded by friends."
