Soldier Uri Magidish, who was rescued from captivity, wore her uniform for the first time on Thursday at a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog and his wife. "You are burned into the national consciousness, I want to show that there is hope, your story is true heroism, we are happy that you are here," the president told her.
Later, she showed the president and his wife the shrapnel removed from her body: "On October 7th I was injured by a grenade, when I returned to Israel they removed the shrapnel from my chest and head." She also shared about her special butterfly-shaped tattoo: "When I was there, I asked God for a sign, I asked Him to show me a butterfly. Then one of the people there took out a kind of butterfly-shaped toy. I realized that was the sign."
