The Supreme Court on Friday, after hearing the parties, rejected Elisha Yared's request to appeal the security restriction order imposed on him.

A restraining order was issued against Yared by the commander of the Central Command, on the recommendation of security officials and because of the risk stemming from it, which limited him to staying in the Jordan Valley while in the West Bank. Yared first appealed this decision to the Military Appeals Committee, which partially accepted his arguments. Subsequently, the state appealed this decision to the District Court, which reversed the decision of the appeals committee and ruled that the military commander's decision was balanced and appropriate under the circumstances. Now, the Supreme Court has upheld the district court's ruling.
The order came after Yared was arrested several months ago on suspicion of his involvement in an incident in the village of Burqa in Binyamin in which a young Palestinian from the village was killed. During the hearings, Yared's lawyers argued that it was self-defense while they were attacked by a large number of assailants who threw stones at them.

"This draconian order was issued from the outset by General Fuchs for purely political purposes, in order to bring about an end to the settlement and propaganda activities in which I am engaged," Elisha Yared said, adding: "Unfortunately, instead of fighting Arab terrorism in Judea and Samaria, Fuchs chose to conduct a campaign of persecution against the settlers, which continues until these very moments."
