Despite the continued state of war and the extensive damage to property caused by the attacks, Palestinian residents were able to return to areas in northern Gaza to visit their destroyed homes. "Everything was bombed, but we have to go back," said a local resident, adding that about 70 families have returned to visit the areas they left at the beginning of the war. "Even if a person finds only one room that survived from the house that was bombed, he will return and sit in it. It's better than sitting in the streets and tents."

In Beit Lahia and other areas in the northern Gaza Strip, a lively movement of residents, families and children was seen trying to make their way through the ruins of the damaged neighborhoods. "The residents of places in this area from which the army has begun to withdraw, come looking for their homes, this is our homeland. What danger could there be more than what we have already experienced?" the resident wondered.

Northward movement was made possible by changes in the nature of the fighting in the northern Gaza Strip. A video was posted on social networks showing residents leaving their homes and wandering the streets of one of the markets in the northern Gaza Strip in search of groceries and food, in an attempt to return to a kind of routine in the shadow of the ongoing war.
