After closing its borders: North Korea will allow tourists from Russia into its territory for the first time since Kim Jong Un's government imposed tough COVID-19 restrictions banning foreign tourists from entering the country.

After testimony from a recently fled citizen revealed that North Korea executed civilians for violating quarantine rules during the pandemic. A group of Russian citizens is expected to arrive in North Korea as tourists and stay in the country for four days, starting February 9. Tourists will visit Pyongyang and a ski resort, among other places.
It can be assumed that this development comes in part after the September meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin in eastern Russia, where the leaders pledged to deepen cooperation between the two countries.
