Highlights: The attack on Mount Hebron signifies: Judea and Samaria is on the verge of a conflagration. Last Friday, the vigilance of the forces prevented a serious attack in the community of Adora. The context of the attack to the fighting in the Gaza Strip cannot be ignored. This is the most serious attack prevented in Judea & Samaria since the beginning of the war, and another sign that the entire area is on a major escalation. The attack shows how burning the area is, and the IDF is well aware that what worked this time will not necessarily work next time.

Last Friday, the vigilance of the forces prevented a serious attack in the community of Adora • The context of the attack to the fighting in the Gaza Strip cannot be ignored • This is the most serious attack prevented in Judea and Samaria since the beginning of the war, and another sign that the entire area is on the verge of a major escalation • This is only proof of the importance of the forces located within the communities

The only reason the news of the attack on Mount Hebron is not on the front page of the newspaper under the headline "Horror in Judea and Samaria" is the vigilance of the forces that have been in the communities since October 7, which managed to prevent a very serious attack in the community of Adora.

On Friday evening, during Shabbat meals, three terrorists infiltrated from the village of Idna, near the outskirts of the community of Adora in the South Hebron Hills. They carried standard M-16s, an axe, knives and Molotov cocktails. Seconds after they entered, the armored personnel soldier arrived at the scene in light of a warning from the indicative fence, but was wounded by shrapnel from 12 bullets fired at him. The patrol pulled back and summoned large forces, including special units. The terrorists were stuck between the iditative fence and the barbed wire blocking their path, and forces of a neighboring company that arrived at the scene eliminated them.

The context of the attack and the fighting in the Gaza Strip cannot be ignored. Since October 7, thousands of fighters have been working inside the communities to prevent the possibility of an invasion or a complex attack, such as the one planned by the terrorists, with the understanding that there are those who want to murder Israelis in Judea and Samaria as well. Had the IDF soldier not been in the community and had not stopped the attack, the incident would have ended much worse.

The severity of the incident can be seen from the words of Sgt. Raz, a medic in the 5060th Battalion who was dispatched to the scene: "We received a warning about an incident in the community of Adora and were dispatched to the area. While searching, we identified a breach in the community's western fence, which is actually the second and more comprehensive fence. We realized that the terrorists had penetrated from there, followed them in and began searching. While I was scanning the area, I saw one of the terrorists coming out over a large rock that was standing there and trying to shoot at us. Luckily, my first bullet bypassed his first and hit right where it should. The terrorist fell down and started a shootout with the other terrorists, which lasted a few minutes, and so after a fight we managed to hit all three of them. We continued to search the area to rule out suspicion of additional terrorists."

This was the worst attack prevented in Judea and Samaria since the beginning of the war, and another sign that the entire area was on the verge of a major escalation. This attack, like other recent attacks, took place in the Judea sector, the same sector that was considered quiet and calm during the year and a half of the severe wave of terror prior to the war. He joins the discovery of about 100 ready-to-use IEDs in the village of Tarqumiya, not far away, last Thursday.

This is a "classic" attack on Judea and Samaria in an era of intifada. Not a raid by dozens of terrorists armed with RPG launchers, as took place near the Gaza Strip, but a relatively small and well-armed squad trying to murder innocent Israelis during Shabbat dinner. The attack shows how burning the area is, and the IDF is well aware that what worked this time will not necessarily work next time, because even now, despite thousands of fighters on the ground, the closure is not hermetic. The attack and the elimination of the terrorists prove the importance of the forces within the communities, and the fact that even though this time the terrorists were eliminated, there are those who want to carry out severe attacks and plunge the entire region into chaos.
