On the sidewalk and without blocking streets, the social organization Somos Barrios de Pie has been protesting since 11:30 a.m. in front of the Presidential Estate of Olivos to demand food for the community kitchens.
The protest, in which demonstrators carried empty pots on the sidewalk, without blocking traffic, was motorized due to the "lack of food in the community kitchens" and "in rejection of the economic measures carried out by the government" of President Javier Milei.
"After the successive marches of the empty pots to the Ministry of Human Capital and the Hotel Libertador, we continue without any kind of official response to the situation," said Norma Morales, assistant secretary of the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy (UTEP) and leader of Barrios de Pie, about the reasons for the call.
The social organization had decided to mobilize on Tuesday but decided to bring forward the call by one day in view of the trip that President Milei plans to make in the afternoon to Switzerland to participate in the 54th Annual Meeting of the Davos Forum.
"So far we have not had any response from either the Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello, or President Milei in the face of a situation that is totally critical. We will continue to insist that they receive us," Morales said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Daniel Menéndez, national coordinator of "Somos Barrios de Pie", considered it "imperative" that "the authorities take measures to compensate for the loss of purchasing power of salaries" and described as "necessary a new Food Emergency Law that provides shelter and food protection to the most vulnerable sectors in an economic scenario that is very difficult".
