Instead of going through the middle of town, the Königsdorf carnival parade moved through the commercial area for the first time this year.

The spectators were thrilled by the creative floats and walking groups.

Königsdorf - A colorful crowd of princesses, pirates, cowboys and clowns made a pilgrimage to Königsdorf's Wiesen industrial area on Tuesday afternoon.

Their goal: The Kinschdarfer Maschkera carnival parade, which is taking place again after a five-year break.

Little by little, the streets along the parade route fill up.

Carnival hits are booming in the background, happy faces as far as the eye can see.

Carnival parade in Königsdorf: Gaudiwurm starts promptly at 1:33 p.m

At exactly 1:33 p.m., the Gaudiwurm – consisting of 14 wagons and six groups of feet – slowly sets off.

It starts with the Kinschdarfer Seccogarde in chic purple and white costumes.

Children jump happily next to the cart, always ready to catch a few candies.

Sidewalks are packed.

Lisa Funke, dressed as a bomb with a fuse attached to her stomach, is one of the many spectators.

“So far I think the move is really good,” reports the Geretsried resident.

“When I looked out the window earlier, I was skeptical about the weather.

But now with the sun it’s perfect,” says Funke, taking a quick look at the sky before she follows the carnival action again.

A few meters away, Josef and Isabella Sappl are standing, decked out in cowboy hats.

“At first we tried to move up in the village without success,” admits the man from Tölz.

This year the carnival parade is taking place in the commercial area for the first time, as reported.

Josef Sappl found the previous venue “more beautiful and somehow more at home”.

But his wife adds: “It’s just as good here, especially as a spectator you’re not so cramped.”

Meanwhile, a steaming locomotive is making its way through the Wiesen district.

With this car, the Kinschdarfer Maschkera is taking the piss out of Deutsche Bahn with its strikes and delays.

“The DB runs in Nena style: somehow, somewhere, sometime,” is written in large letters on the vehicle.

A spectator nudges her companion.

“This time the cars are even nicer,” she whispers to her.

“Maybe it’s because they had so much time to prepare.”

Then comes a highlight of the parade: a green tractor chugs up to match the new Pumuckl film.

Driven by a red-headed goblin.

On the trailer, more Pumuckls are doing gymnastics on a replica ship's swing, with a disguised master carpenter Eder standing next to them.

“It’s really cool, this is my favorite car,” says a happy little Indian on the side of the road.

Politicians and skeletons: Criticism of the federal cabinet could also be seen at the Königsdorfer Gaudiwurm in the commercial area.

Chairman Sepp Wametsberger stands in a good mood in front of the Kinschdarfer Maschkera bar.

“So far everything has gone well.” According to the carnival friend’s estimate, around 3,000 people came to Königsdorf.

“In advance, it was of course exciting for us to see how the move would go here - and, above all, how it would be accepted by the people.”

His conclusion: “Surprisingly good, people are enthusiastic.” There is also more space in the commercial area, both for spectators and for the cars.

BRK employees watch the Gaudiwurm in the background.

“Everything is still quiet, we haven’t heard anything yet,” says BRK employee Peter Bernard.

“But the people of Königsdorf are civilized anyway.

I didn’t expect any big rioters there.”
