Robert Lewandowski hits and hits. After his goal against Bremen, only Gerd Müller scored more Bundesliga goals - but overtaking them will be difficult.

Robert Lewandowski's 268th Bundesliga match was neither particularly worth seeing nor one of his more important ones.

But the 3-0 in the meantime at 3-1 (2-0) against Werder Bremen in the 67th minute of the game was still a special one.

Due to the short distance, only Gerd Müller (365) scored more often in the Bundesliga.

Lewandowski is now in second place on the all-time goalscorer list, tied with Klaus Fischer, who also scored 268 times in the top German division.

The goal against Bremen was Lewandowski's 32nd goal this season.

If he keeps his previous average from this season, he would not overtake the "bomber of the nation" in terms of the total number of goals scored in the Bundesliga, but in terms of goals in one season.

In the 1971/72 season, Müller scored 40 times, a record that has rarely been in danger since then.

Lewandowski now has nine games left to score at least eight more goals and draw level with Müller.

If the Pole hits nine or more times, Müller's almost 50-year-old record would be broken.

Lewandowski has the best prospects for the top scorer's crown this season.

It would be his sixth time as the top scorer, Müller did it once more.

Since Lewandowski scored the most goals in the past three seasons, this would be his fourth top scorer in a row.

Even Gerd Müller couldn't do that.
