For the first time since the Tokyo Olympics, Olympic gymnastics champion Linoy Ashram returned today (Friday) to the World Cup round, when she reached the Challenge Cup in Portugal, this time as part of Israel's coaching staff.
The 23-year-old Ashram, who only announced her retirement in early April, accompanies the team that includes Ofir Shaham, Diana Svertsov, Rumi Paritzky, Amit Hedvat, Shani Baknov and Adar Friedman, while Adi Katz and Alona Hillel will also participate in the individual competition.
Over the past few months, while she was no longer an active athlete, Ashram has been involved in training and building the new team, and is now making her first steps as a coach.
Ashram will not be alone, but part of the expanded team in the competition, with the delegation also accompanied by Natalia Stepanova and Ayelet Sussman, who was Ashram's personal trainer and led her to the historic gold,
For the gymnasts in blue and white, this is the last preparatory competition before the European Championships, which will start here in Tel Aviv on June 15, with the participation of about 300 gymnasts from 39 countries.
