It had been hinted at in the past few weeks.
Central defender Niklas Lang extends his contract with TSV 1860 Munich.
Munich
- "I'm very happy to be able to extend my contract with my heart club and to be able to take the next steps in my career with the lions," says Niklas Lang as part of his contract extension.
TSV 1860 announced this on its website on Friday.
The homegrown player's original contract would have expired in the summer.
By extending the contract, sporting director Günther Gorenzel is preventing the 19-year-old from leaving without a transfer.
TSV 1860: Does Verlaat complete the central defense?
There were still many indications of this at the end of April.
The talks stagnated at the time and a departure in the summer seemed very likely.
At the beginning of May, however, there was a reversal.
Both sides could imagine further cooperation, which has now been made perfect.
Accordingly, Gorenzel is happy about the youngster's signature, which is also on the note from U21 national coach Antonio Di Salvo: "Despite his young years, Niki has already shown what he's made of in a few games and assignments.
Therefore, we are glad that another player from our Bavarian Junglöwen NLZ is taking the next step together with our team in order to achieve the goals together.
Neither side announced the length of the new contract.
The Löwen team for the new season is taking on more and more contours as a result of the contract extension.
On Thursday, full-back Christoph Lannert was introduced as a new signing at Grünwalder Strasse.
In addition, Jesper Verlaat should move from Waldhof Mannheim to Munich.
After the departure of defense chief Stephan Salger, the lions would then be in a great position with Leandro Morgalla, Semi Belkahia, Niki Lang and Verlaat.
