The world champion who lost his hands in an accident at the age of 13, won another medal and continues to establish his status as one of the best Paralympic taekwondo fighters in the world • Lost in the final to the Turkish opponent he won in the World Championship final

World champion Assaf Yasur continues to establish his status as one of the best Paralympic taekwondo fighters in the world, after winning the silver medal at the Sofia Grand Prix today (Monday).

The 20-year-old Yasur, who competes in the up to 58 kg category, automatically advanced to the second round, where he defeated the likely Azeri Zainlov 13:19 and advanced to the semifinals. But this time it was the Israeli's turn to take revenge with 5: 8.

In the final, the Turk Ali Khan Ozkan, the current European champion, was waiting for him and in the battle that is a rematch of the last World Cup final, Yasur lost 36:24 and settled for the silver medal.

As you may recall, when he was 13, he played with his friends Yasur on the field in Moshav Aloni HaBashan.

When he tried to extract a ball that was stuck in the electrical room, he suffered a strong electric shock.

The doctors had to amputate both his hands five days before his bar mitzvah.

Out of the trauma, Assaf has re-emerged as a determined athlete who does not let the limitation stop him on the way to the summit.
