The official annual event for the Druze martyrs, the "For the Druze Boys" race, returns in a full and rich format after a two-year hiatus in which it was not held due to the Corona epidemic.
The event will take place for the eighth time on Friday, September 16, 2022 in the Lavi Forest near the Golani interchange.
The race, which is produced by "Kafaim", Israel's leading company in the production of Active Life Style events, will include two running sections of 10 km and 5 km, a popular walking section of 3 km and a cycling section of 25 km.
This year, a challenging interactive quiz "Following Hamitzer and the Treasures of the Druze Community" edited by quizmaster Dan Hamitzer, will be launched during the event and will last for a month.
The final riddle will be presented by the President of the State, Yitzhak Herzog.
The quiz carries prizes, including hospitality like the king's and overnight stays in the villages and at the various tourist attractions associated with the community.
The race is initiated by the "For the Children" association, with the aim of revealing the contribution of the Druze community to Israeli society, to stimulate a multicultural discourse and to create connections between the different sectors in Israel.
As every year, citizens from all levels of the population, students, teenagers, senior officials from the security system and the government are expected to participate, along with the families of the victims, police, MDA, fire and rescue personnel, and of course military personnel and military units from the past and present. During the event, a huge event will be held for the general public. Tens of thousands of visitors are expected to come and enjoy traditional Druze food and sports activities for the whole family.
Initiator and founder of the "For the Boys" project, Brigadier General (ret.) Amal Asad, invites the general public to take part in the race: "We are excited to renew the tradition during challenging days for the entire society in Israel.
The 'For the Sons' events, which are an active commemoration project in memory of the warriors belonging to the Druze tribe, are an opportunity for a wide and diverse audience to express sympathy and support for the members of the bereaved families and to get to know the members of the tribe and their ways of life up close.
The race will take place in an atmosphere of close-hearted camaraderie and as part of recreation and activity in the great outdoors against the backdrop of the Galilee landscapes and the valleys surrounding the Druze villages."
