TSV Brunnthal put up a brave resistance in the first round of the Toto Cup and only had to bow to SV Heimstetten on penalties.

Brunnthal

– In the first state league year, which ended with a direct relegation, the footballers of TSV Brunnthal experienced a lot.

The first game in the club's history in the Toto Cup is the next highlight.

The state league team forced the regional league team SV Heimstetten to take penalties and were unlucky there with a missed shot – Brunnthal had to bow 8:9 (1:1, 3:3).

The Brunnthaler surprised the prominent guest in front of 300 spectators with a super cheeky performance.

The state league didn't hide, set their own accents, and the bottom line was that a break would not have been undeserved.

Elia Ceschin gave the underdog the lead after just four minutes, and then Valentin Strobl and Ceschin had chances for the second goal.

The regional league team from Heimstetten equalized in the 38th minute with their first real chance.

After the break, the guests took the lead twice through standard situations (Micheli 65', Rosina 81'), but the indestructible mentality monsters from Brunnthal didn't let themselves be thrown off course.

Four minutes after the 1:2, Jakob Klaß converted a penalty kick to equalize (69'), and then Noah Greiner forced the draw with a powerful shot in the last second (90'+3') and the penalty shoot-out that followed immediately.

There, the Heimstettener were perhaps that crucial tick cooler.

The guest converted all five penalties with nerves of steel.

In the green-whites, the first four shooters, Jakob Klaß, Luis Fischer, Tim Rebenschütz and Oliver Lindenauer, scored.

And then came Brunnthal goalkeeper Maximilian Geisbauer, who converted every penalty in training.

He failed because of his opponent Moritz Knauf - and with that the dream of the next festival day has burst.

Despite the missed sensation, coach Raphael Schwanthaler was enthusiastic: "It was a real cup game and it was really fun.

For the viewers it was more entertaining than any feature film." (nb)
