After a month and a half away from the courts, Shawn Weissman came up tonight (Monday) for the first minutes of the season in the Spanish league, and deep into the extra time scored the winning goal for Valladolid in the dramatic 0:1 against Almeria.
The Israeli striker, who as I recall was injured at the beginning of August, overcame the injury and came off the bench in the 66th minute of the game.
When it looked like his first goal of the season would wait, Weissmann found the back of the net in the 93rd minute to send Valladolid celebrating their first win of the season.
The purple-whites are currently ranked 16th in the table, with four points after four rounds.
But as mentioned, and mainly thanks to their top scorer in the previous season, they can smile - and in a big way.
