A great achievement for Paralympic taekwondo fighter Assaf Yassour, who won the gold medal at the prestigious Paris Grand Prix this evening (Monday).
Yassur qualified for the competition along with the 12 best fighters in the category (58 kg), and went directly to the quarterfinals due to his high ranking (2nd in the world).
In the quarter finals, an opponent from Japan won with an impressive result 6:29.
In the semi-finals he met the local opponent to whom he lost in the last European Championship, but this did not prevent him from winning 15:30 and this in front of the French audience.
Assaf advanced to the finals of the prestigious competition where he met the Azeri champion, who impressed in the semi-finals after defeating the Turkish European champion.
As mentioned, the Israeli defeated his opponent 10:13, after leading throughout the fight.
Noa Shamide, CEO of the Taekwondo Association: "Assaf proves once again the power of will, faith and perseverance, finishing first on the podium in one of the most difficult and prestigious competitions in the industry, which is a huge pride for the country! The win gave Assaf an important score for the Paralympic Games in Paris 2024 and a lot of confidence on the way to his goal, which is of course medal".

This is the result of hard work by the team and the entire system that combines the joint activity of the Olympic and Paralympic fighters under one roof.
