It was a perfect day for Taufkirchen's handball players, the team of the hour in the district class.

Taufkirchen – The numerous spectators in the Taufkirchen secondary school were able to enjoy a gripping handball derby.

In the end, the home team prevailed 26:23 (9:11) against TSV Wartenberg and thus remains undefeated in the district class.

The deficits in the exploitation of opportunities would have cost his team the win, said Wartenberg's coach Andreas Adelsberger.

His Taufkirchen colleague Patrick Mühlenbeck praised the fighting performance: "We showed good toughness in defense and were particularly good when we were outnumbered."

In the first section, however, the guests led almost continuously.

Deborah Adelsberger was in good shape again in attack, Wartenberg was ahead 7:4.

But then the attacking game didn't work at all for the guests for a few minutes, while in Taufkirchen the sisters Theresa and Sophia Pregler found the opposing goal better and better.

Theresa in particular did a great job throughout the game, praised Mühlenbeck afterwards.

The Wartenberg coach admitted: "Unfortunately, we couldn't eliminate the two as we wanted." Taufkirchen led 8:7 after 20 minutes, after which the game tipped over.

The visitors were ahead at halftime with two goals.

Adelsberger: "But it should have been much higher for us."

It remained tight in the second period, after 47 minutes the score was 18:18.

Taufkirchen now had to cope with a moment of shock, Sophia Pregler injured her knee.

The hosts were penalized in the last ten minutes - but Wartenberg was unable to take advantage.

"Before we were 20:19 in front and then 22:24 behind, that shouldn't happen," Adelsberger was annoyed.

In the majority situations, his women should have pulled away, but finished too hectically: "We would have easily won with more coolness."

The leadership went to the women in Taufkirchen, who never gave it up.

In the last few seconds there was another nasty incident when a woman from Wartenberg accidentally jumped in the face of Laura Magdalena Strauss.

It looked bad.

"Hopefully it's just a bruised jaw," Mühlenbeck said.

TSV Taufkirchen:

Theresa Pregler 10/2, Sophia Pregler 5, Laura Magdalena Strauss 5, Andrea Blattenberger 4, Julia Kerscher, Ursula Rasthofer

TSV Wartenberg:
