Lena Zaindl and FCA Unterbruck II have done it.

Now, for the first time, a woman may also be used in the A-class footballers of VfR Haag.

District

– This message makes you sit up and take notice: For the game against SVA Palzing II (Sunday, 2:30 p.m.), 19-year-old Sarah Dietrich from the women’s leisure team is in the VfR Haag squad.

VfR trainer Volker Lippcke was initially a little surprised that the young woman was asked to play.

According to the current regulations, this has to be done anew for each encounter and also costs a small amount.

However, he invited Sarah Dietrich to the training session to get an impression of her skills.

He was impressed by her performance: "She can stop the ball well and play football." With her talent, Dietrich could keep up to some extent in the men's A class.

"I think I've done well overall."

After the Thursday session, the decision was made: "I'll take her to the game, but of course only for the bench first," says Lippcke.

Will there be a first assignment in the team?

That also depends on the score: "If it's tight for a long time, I can't bring it.

With a 3-0 or 4-0 it looks completely different," emphasizes the VfR coach.

After her first training session, the 19-year-old said that the men were still a bit unfamiliar.

"But I think I did well overall," says Dietrich.

Despite her young age, she was already active in a number of clubs: she played for Schwaig and Attenkirchen among the juniors, among others.

However, the time for football has recently become scarcer - which is why Sarah Dietrich decided to get involved with VfR Haag in the leisure league.

With ten goals in eight games, she is the top scorer - although that is not actually her main task on the pitch: "I see myself as a team player and prepare the goals rather than scoring them myself."

Sarah Dietrich hopes to be substituted

There are definitely other players with ambitions in the leisure team.

However, the squad is too small to really take off.

"In any case, I think it's cool that women are now allowed to join the men.

And maybe I'll get my chance."

For coach Lippcke, however, success comes first against Palzing II.

With a win, VfR Haag could expand their record to 21 points and go into the long winter break with a good feeling.
