After an amazing season with wonderful goals, great dramas, exciting turnarounds, a new – old champion, and quite a few stories, the Premier League came to an end on Sunday evening with a full cycle, at the end of which Leicester City and Leeds United were relegated to the Second Division and joined Southampton, while Everton survived another season in the Premier League.
Everton needed a home win over Bournemouth to secure another season in the best league in the world. Although Bournemouth had already secured their stay before the match, the hosts knew that in November the teams had met twice in four days, in the League Cup and in the league, and Bournemouth won at home 1-4 and 0-3. After a first half with weights on their feet, the Toffees broke free and got the long-awaited goal in the 57th minute from the feet of Abdoulaye Doucouré that opened the stage for celebrations for Sean Ditch and his players.
Those who went down and didn't sleep tonight and probably not in the next few days are Leicester and Leeds. The Foxes, who were promoted 9 seasons ago, who won a historic and unprecedented title only 7 years ago, have endured a nightmare season and even today's 1-2 victory over West Ham at home did not help them.

Leeds surrendered 4-1 against Tottenham Hotspur away and after three seasons in the Premier League, will play in the Championship next season. At the end of the 2019/20 season, Leeds returned to the Premier League after a 16-year absence and their fans will be hoping that the journey back to the main stage now won't take so long.
