Lebanese President Michel Aoun reiterated the need to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland, pointing out that the Syrian state has created all the necessary conditions for their return.
Aoun said in a speech to the UN General Assembly today that the conditions for the return of the displaced are available and that the situation in most of the Syrian territory has become stable and that the Syrian state has welcomed the return of its displaced children.
Aoun warned against turning the displaced people into hostages in an international game to barter them and the absence of safe and dignified return programs.
Aoun expressed "Lebanon's adherence to its sovereign rights over the Shebaa Farms, the Kfarshuba hills and the occupied northern Gypsies."
Aoun pointed out that the Israeli violations of resolution 1701 have never stopped, as well as the continuous aggressions against Lebanese sovereignty by land, sea and air. Occupied by incendiary Israeli missiles, which constitute an international environmental crime that must be condemned.
Aoun stressed that Lebanon's commitment to Resolution 1701 does not abrogate its natural right to legitimate self-defense by all available means.
