Hama-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture of Hama has allocated within its plan for the next agricultural season an area of ten thousand and 427 hectares to be cultivated with legume crops of both irrigated and Baal types.
The Director of Agriculture, Abdel-Moneim Sabbagh, told SANA today that the plan includes planting 1,546 hectares within irrigated lands and 8881 hectares in Baal lands.
He pointed out that the cultivation of legumes has seen in recent years a remarkable demand by farmers in the province because of the low costs of production inputs and the high prices of most of its crops, which achieve good income for them.
The cultivation of legumes is concentrated in Mehradah and Hama, especially the Orontes River Basin, Maharshour, Salmiya and Sabourah.
