In its International Day… Postal Corporation plans to launch digital services and participate in e-commerce

World Post Day is celebrated on the 9th of October annually to raise awareness of the role of the postal sector in the daily lives of individuals and businesses on the one hand and to showcase and promote new postal products and services on the other.

In Syria, the postal institution puts among its future projects a project for digital transformation and the launch of digital services for them and the transition from the traditional phase, which needs time, according to its director, Dr. Badr Ahmed, because of a group of factors, most notably the presence of electronic payment and provision of services in all post offices to be then transition to services digitally .

Ahmed also told SANA delegate about preparing for a future step to participate in electronic commerce, pointing out that the distribution of the output of this trade to citizens needs to have a carrier for these requests can be benefited from the widespread deployment of the postal institution with 407 post offices in all governorates.

In parallel with the preparation of these projects, Ahmed stressed the constant endeavor to improve the mechanisms of work in the institution and develop them in line with the latest developments and the application of the latest technologies followed globally in the postal work through the introduction of new services and a variety of different ways to meet the needs of customers and upgrading their aspirations.

The Director of the Foundation pointed out that the celebration of World Post Day aims to acquaint customers with the role he plays in securing their communication requirements and their needs of various services and support the achievement of social and economic development in the world.

Ahmed explained that one of the most important steps to improve the profitability of the institution is its orientation towards production processes and the introduction of automation to some post offices, which contributed to the provision of postal services faster and activated the work of the institution, especially remittances, where the number of automated offices to date 50.

The services of the Syrian Postal Corporation include the reservation of the Syrian top-level domain through `` DotSAS '' and `` DotSyria '', financial remittances, parcels, items, money orders and postage stamps in addition to the services of pensioners, distribution and urgent mail and salaries of the residence and postal box and shipping and civil and non-employee record and authentication of documents.

World Post Day was chosen at a conference in Tokyo in 1969 to mark the 1874 anniversary of the Universal Postal Union in Switzerland.
