(CNN) - San Diego Padres pitcher Jacob Nix was kicked and received an electric shock after he was caught crawling through the door of a house in Arizona this weekend, according to court documents.

A woman in Peoria, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, called police after her husband surprised a man who entered his residence early Sunday, according to a police report.

The husband told Peoria police that he woke up around 3:30 am when he heard the sound coming from the dog's door in his room, according to the police report. He said he saw a flashlight shining through the door that leads to the backyard and then noticed that a man was trying to crawl. Police identified the man as Nix, 23, in his report, and said his employer is the San Diego Padres.

The husband yelled at his wife to call 911 and give him his gun, according to the police report. His wife told police she couldn't find her husband's gun, so she grabbed the electric shock gun.

The husband told police he kicked Nix in the face, then noticed that another man's arm reached out and tried to pull it out. Nix and the other man, whom the police identified as Thomas Cosgrove, 23, began to flee. Armed with his electric gun, the husband leaned through the dog's door, aimed and hit Nix on the back, according to the police report.

Both men told police they had gone out to drink that night.

"This is my fault, I can't blame alcohol, but I was drunk," Nix said. He said he did not remember entering the backyard.

Nix dropped his phone inside the house and confirmed to the police that it was his when they were imprisoning him, the police report said.

On October 6, according to court documents from Maricopa County obtained by KPHO / KTVK, a CNN affiliate, both men were charged with criminal trespassing for entering the owner's backyard and Nix was charged with an additional criminal raid charge for Enter the residence. According to the records, they both left that afternoon, Nix paid a bail of $ 100 and Cosgrove paid a bail of $ 50 to the court.
