The Department of Antiquities of Bosra Al-Sham in Daraa countryside started implementing a project of restoration works within the castle in cooperation with the private sector at a total cost of 32.7 million pounds and an implementation period of eight months.
Head of the department Alaa Al-Salah said in a statement to SANA correspondent today that the works are allocated to the western block of the castle “the architectural part that connects two towers”. According to the schemes and pictures that exist before the collapse.
He pointed out that the supervisory body of restoration consists of a cadre comprising all the specializations with the participation of technicians and engineers from the Department of Antiquities of Bosra and the Directorate General of Antiquities and Museums, explaining that the Department's plan in the field of restoration starts from the castle and theater as all visits start from them.
Earlier this year, the Bosra Department of Antiquities completed the documentation of the damage to the Old City and prepared studies for some of the necessary works within the Citadel in order to improve the reality of the ancient city and return it to its shed.
