Iran's Supreme National Security Council is preparing for the fourth step in reducing the country's obligations under the nuclear deal, the Foreign Ministry said.
"The diplomatic option is open and there are measures and moves in this area by the Europeans but so far it has not yielded tangible results and we believe that the committee formed in the Supreme National Security Council is working on the fourth step," ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said in a statement. "To reduce nuclear obligations, and if conditions continue, we will take this step."
The Trump administration recently imposed measures on Iran to tighten oil exports, ending exemptions under which eight countries were allowed to buy Iranian oil and thus banned imports from Iran, followed by threats against Tehran, and Iran responded by suspending the implementation of some of its obligations under the nuclear deal.
