The German Foreign Ministry confirmed today that the establishment of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories is against international law.
The spokeswoman for the ministry, according to Deutsche Welle website that the Israeli settlements on the occupied Palestinian territories impede any opportunity to reach a settlement of the Palestinian issue through negotiation.
The German spokeswoman referred to UN Security Council Resolution 2334, which affirms the illegality of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced at a press conference yesterday that the US administration does not consider the Israeli settlements as inconsistent with international law, ignoring all international resolutions, especially resolution 2334 of 2016, which demands the occupation to stop immediately all settlement operations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
