A few days ago, the police blocked the area of the Polytechnic University. Some netizens blocked the road in Yau Tsim Mong District. The police arrested more than 200 people on Monday night. Among them, 60 arrested persons were divided into 3 cases and will appear in the Kowloon City Court today (20th). All defendants appearing in court are not required to reply, and all cases are postponed until next year.

On the evening of November 18, there were police clashes in Yau Tsim Mong and Jordan. (data picture)

The 60 defendants involved were aged between 16 and 35. Their case was divided into three cases, involving a total of 20 defendants in each case. The defendants in each case were charged with one count of riots. The charges were that they were on the 18th of this month at the junction of Nathan Road in Nathan Road, Yau Ma Tei, and participated in riots with others.

One of the cases has a Nepalese defendant

The first case involved 17 men and 3 women, 8 of whom were accused and one of whom was a Nepalese. In the case, one of the defendants was still in hospital and could not appear in court today. All defendants appearing in court are allowed to be released on bail ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. They are required to abide by the prohibition order and the curfew and cannot leave the port during the period. The case was postponed until March 11 next year.

Only a male defendant, Liang Jiaqi (24 years old), was admitted to the university in Australia and needed to communicate in Japan. Therefore, he was allowed to bail at 50,000 yuan and cash personnel of 100,000 yuan. He could leave Hong Kong for some days.

The prosecution’s request for a wide range of official positions has not been issued

The second case involved 18 men and 2 women, 11 of whom were accused as students, and another female accused reported to be a university researcher. Five of them are still in hospital and have not appeared in court. All defendants appearing in court are allowed to be released on bail of 1,000 to 5,000 yuan.

The prosecution had requested all defendants not to enter the place involved, the curfew, and not to leave the port during the period. However, the Magistrate, Mr. He Jun-tung, questioned that there have been different incidents in the near future, and he asked whether he should "go out of the streets in the future." He Guan also questioned that the scope of the ban was greater than the location of the charge.

The prosecution explained that the police line of defense had confronted the demonstrators on Gascoigne Road, and the demonstrators had stolen petrol bombs. After the police officers advanced, they eventually arrested a number of people at the charge of charge together with other police officers who had been escorted, but admitted that they were unable to prove the behavior of the individual defendants at the time of the incident.

However, the magistrate still questioned that the prosecution has not been able to prove that the conduct of the demonstrators in Gascoigne has nothing to do with the arrested persons. The magistrate did not end up with a ban, a curfew and no leave, and postponed the case until March 5 next year.

The third case involved 15 men and 5 women, 7 of whom were students. The two defendants failed to appear in court today, and the case was postponed until March 4 next year. The defendant appearing in court is guaranteed to be protected from 1,000 to 5,000 yuan.

In addition, the Kowloon City Court handled two cases of anti-amendment demonstrations this morning. The two defendants involved were Zhang Zhanming (23), a defendant of Zhongdasheng, and Abikaiyr Nukpi (19), a exchange student of the Baptist University and Kazakh. They all reported that students were charged with one offensive weapon.

The former was charged with a petrol bomb outside the bus stop at Cheung Wan Road, Hung Hom on the 18th of this month. The latter was charged with the same day at the junction of Nathan Road and Jordan Road in Yau Ma Tei. Both defendants were not required to reply, and Zhang’s case was postponed until January 29. The case of Abikaiyr Nukpi was postponed until January 15 next year.
