The Minister of Education confirmed the position of the Syrian Arab Republic rejecting attempts by some countries to politicize the work of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Al-Azab pointed out during his meeting with UNESCO Deputy Director-General Vexing Keo that the French government is attempting to block entry of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic and prevent it from participating in the activities of the UNESCO General Conference contrary to the headquarters agreement.

For his part, Kyu expressed his happiness for the participation of Syria, expressing his apology for what happened and appreciating the position of the Syrian Arab Republic rejecting the politicization of the decisions of the Organization, noting that UNESCO was quick to resolve these forms and demanded the French government to fulfill its obligations and grant the Syrian delegation entry privileges under the headquarters agreement.

It is noteworthy that the activities of the conference lasts until the 27th of this month and member states will adopt during this session an international agreement aimed at facilitating the recognition of the qualifications of higher education and the free movement of students and teachers.
