(CNN Spanish) - The company Arcos Dorados Operations of Peru that operates the McDonald's restaurant franchise in the country, committed “very serious infractions in terms of occupational safety and health” that caused the death of two of its employees, announced this Thursday in a statement the National Superintendence of Labor Inspection.

SUNAFIL investigated the conditions in which two young people died electrocuted while working in the franchised restaurant of the chain in Pueblo Libre, district of Lima, Peru, on December 15 and determined an accumulation of very serious infractions for which it recommends that the company Arcos Dorados operations is sanctioned with a fine of approximately US $ 250,000.

Arcos Dorados operations has not ruled on the findings of SUNAFIL and CNN is trying to get a comment from the company.

Although the National Superintendence of Labor Inspection did not specify what caused the death of the two employees, it determined the following infractions in its investigation:

-The company did not perform risk assessments and periodic checks of working conditions
-It failed to provide information and training to its workers in terms of health and safety and the risks involved in their jobs
-The internal regulations did not contain safety standards for cleaning
-The company did not credit the delivery or supervise the use of personal protective equipment
- It also did not provide safety conditions in the workplace, facilities, machinery and equipment, specifically the soda machine
- He did not carry out the effective supervision of the health and safety conditions at work. Despite knowing about the damage of the soda machine, he did not take action

MIRA: McDonald's closes all its stores in Peru for two days after the death of two workers

In addition to the infractions found in the workplace, SUNAFIL determined that the company did not notify, within the legal deadline, the death of its employees to the Ministry of Labor.

Last week, José Carlos Andrade, general manager of Arcos Dorados Operations, said that “based on our internal investigations, what we have been able to define is that, at least, 24 hours before, it was already known that the soda machine was presenting problems. "

Andrade added in an interview with Peru's N channel on Friday, December 20 that the first thing that should have happened is to communicate this information to the person responsible for the maintenance area “but in the restaurant what they should have done is not to use the machine, they have even been able to disconnect it or lower the key ”.
