The director of water resources, Eng. Nabil Hassan, stated in a statement to the SANA correspondent that the rainfalls witnessed in Lattakia during the last period led to high storage rates in the dams and an increase in the level of stores and the discharge of springs and groundwater levels.

Engineer Hassan explained that with the storage volume of the October 16 lake lake reaching its normal level, the technical cadres working in the dam opened the gate of the irrigation socket in abundance 10 cubic meters per second to reduce pressure and avoid reaching the opening of the gates of the lateral flood, pointing out that the lake's water inlet recorded this morning about 42 cubic meters per second And in the afternoon, about 30 cubic meters, 10 cubic meters of which are drained through the irrigation socket, and the remainder will be drained by the funnel spillway that will work automatically today.

He stressed that the directorate continues to work on the dam and appropriate investment measures will be taken according to weather conditions, especially that the directorate has taken all its procedures during the last period of maintenance of dams and associated facilities and pumping stations with the presence of rotating cadres around the clock and technical teams to investigate any problem or emergency and take action Appropriate about it.

According to the data of the Water Resources Directorate, the number of dams invested in the governorate is 14, with a storage capacity of 366.5 million cubic meters, and the storage rate today is 92 percent.
