The first electoral test of the year, in the Río Cuarto Cordoba, will come with political novelty: the Peronism commanded by Governor Juan Schiaretti added his provincial seal to Kirchnerism and together they will compete in the municipal elections on March 29.
The "We do for Córdoba" alliance was legally presented at the end of last week and contains, among others, the Victory Party, whose attorney (Ignacio Basileca) was a candidate for national deputy for the Front of All last October and shared a ballot with Alberto Fernández.
Other smaller forces, such as the Electoral Instrument Party for Popular Unity, also adhere to Kirchnerism at the national level and now went from opponents to allies to the Schiarettist PJ.
"We do for Córdoba" is the acronym that Schiaretti premiered to seek his re-election in mid-2019 and in the national election he decided to play with a short ballot in the legislative section, without supporting any presidential candidate . An elegant way out for a particular political position: the Cordovan was Mauricio Macri's best opposition ally in his four years and failed to attempt to blast a third position that skipped the crack.
With that diluted trial - Miguel Pichetto went with Cambiemos and Sergio Massa with Kirchnerism -, Schiaretti declared himself president of the presidential. Although, even today, in the Front of All they accuse him of having played low for Macri. As in 2015, the former president made his best choice there in the entire country. Another symbol of the provincial crack was that Senator Carlos Caserio, former head of PJ Cordovan, left Schiaretti and folded to the K.
Anyway, Alberto Fernández always sought to keep the link active and even visited Schiaretti between the STEP and the first round. And the Cordoba approached the Rosada once the administration changed. Thus, more gestures were given : the governor met with the Minister of the Interior, Eduardo "Wado" of Pedro, and even with Máximo Kirchner. And the Minister of Social Development, Daniel Arroyo, went to Córdoba to launch the Food Card.
It is not clear anyway how far the reunion will advance . Schiaretti was a furious opponent of Cristina (and vice versa) and keeps her national deputies separate from the Front of All. But now at least they agreed to support the re-election of Juan Manuel Llamosas as mayor of Río Cuarto.
The alliance has a very local logic , because in addition to the Cordovan PJ and the Kirchner, "We do for Cordoba" includes other parties such as the Christian Democrat, the GEN, Socialism and Free of the South, a mixture unthinked outside the province.
