(CNN Spanish) - The flight of Air Canada that flew over Madrid to burn fuel landed at the Madrid-Barajas airport without incident, according to Enaire, air navigation manager in Spain.

Air Canada said in a statement that the plane experienced an "engine problem" shortly after takeoff.
“According to reports, a tire was also broken at takeoff, one of the 10 in this aircraft model. The plane chose to return to Madrid and is currently circling to use fuel and lighten the plane to land. The plane, a Boeing 767-300, is designed to operate on an engine and our pilots are fully trained for this eventuality. However, an emergency was declared to obtain landing priority. The main pilots union in Spain, Sepla, said on Twitter that the flight lost part of its landing gear that then entered its engine, and has to burn fuel before attempting to land.
