The Gironde prefecture issued a decree on Monday ordering supermarkets and grocery stores to close at 9:00 p.m. maximum during the health crisis linked to covid-19 to avoid " regrouping ", after reports from the police, notably in Bordeaux.
Supermarkets, mini-markets, grocery stores, bakeries, tobacconists, fruit and vegetable stores etc ... of the department will have to close their doors at 9 p.m. and will not be able to reopen them before 5 a.m., according to this decree.
The prefect Fabienne Buccio had explained Monday morning in press audioconference that it had been noted, in districts of Bordeaux in particular, that " certain businesses remain open late and that creates groups in the evening ", inside as well as near these establishments and without respecting social distancing measures.
“ People tend to go there, to gather there, commerce becomes a meeting place and more really a place of commerce. It doesn't have to last, so we're going to end it, ”she said. This measure applies from Monday evening until April 15, according to the press release.
