The coronavirus epidemic is worsening rapidly in the United States as the Trump administration is still hesitant to take more drastic measures for fear of a major economic recession. 34,000 cases of infection have been recorded in the 50 States of the Union, but the number of tests remains relatively limited and the figure could be much higher. The National Guard has been mobilized in the three most affected states, California, Washington State on the Pacific coast, and New York on the Atlantic coast, to assist local authorities.
The situation is very worrying in the state and in New York City, where the number of cases per capita is the highest in the country.
