New York today recorded 630 deaths in the worst toll in 24 hours, taking the number of deaths within the state to 3565.
"We have not yet reached the height of the epidemic, but we are approaching it," AP Governor Andrew Como said at a press conference today, noting that the rise was rapid, especially in Long Island.
The Johns Hopkins University announced yesterday that the United States recorded about 1,200 additional deaths from the virus within 24 hours in the worst daily toll recorded in any country.
