Once a symbol of arrival at the summit, it is no more than a scrap metal dangerously steep, 300 meters above the vineyards. About ten meters high, weighing almost a ton, the imposing iron cross in lattice which dominated until Sunday the Pic Saint-Loup, a mountain located in the first Cévennes foothills overlooking Montpellier, made the subject to an act of vandalism.

One or more individuals went to the site, probably between Sunday evening and Monday morning, to bring down this perched symbol at an altitude of 658 meters. "It does not seem that the cross was sawed but that the author (s) used a drill," said a gendarme.
The motivations of the author (s) remain unclear. On the pedestal of the cross attacked a meter from the base, we can however read in red paint the following inscription: "The pic secular" or an inscription in English evoking the power of witches ... The gendarmes also discovered,
